Aerograder delivers graded manufactured sand for Afcons on the Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway
Afcons Infrastructure Limited, one of India's leading infrastructure developers with projects in more than 25 countries, needed graded manufactured sand for Package 2 of the 701 km Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway, a site with almost no processing water. CFlo's Aerograder air classifier produced dedusted, graded manufactured sand at 60-70 TPH using air instead of water, and Afcons completed Package 2 well ahead of schedule.
Package 2 of the Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway, connecting Nagpur and Mumbai and cutting commute time from 14 hours to 8, involved two interchanges, multiple flyovers, bridges and several culverts, all with specific demands for graded manufactured sand. The work sites at Khadki, Pimpalgaon and Wardha had severe water scarcity.
Afcons needed a solution that could optimise material processing with minimal water while holding the required material quality across demanding timelines.
CFlo introduced the Aerograder, an air classification system designed for dry material separation. It delivers fine and coarse fractions with high precision and needs no auxiliary equipment such as cyclones, baghouses, airlocks or external fans, reducing capital and operating costs and shrinking the plant footprint.
Operating at just 45 kW, one of the lowest power draws per tonne of feed in the industry, the Aerograder was integrated into Afcons' existing circuit with the feeding mechanism, product stockpile conveyor and an eco-friendly dust suppression system. Its modular design allowed fast installation and customisation for optimal material recovery with the limited water available on site.
The Aerograder enabled continuous, uninterrupted production of high-quality manufactured sand with minimal waste and no processing water, letting Afcons meet project goals on time while complying with environmental standards through effective dust control.
