
QPMC: pioneering C&D waste recycling in Qatar at 310 tph
At the Rawdat Rashed landfill site near Doha, CFlo World Limited is transforming construction and demolition waste into specification-grade recycled aggregates for Qatar Projects Management Company (QPMC). The two-phase system will operate at 310 tonnes per hour with 95% water recirculation, entirely off-grid, making it one of the largest C&D waste recycling installations in the Gulf region.
Qatar's two-decade construction boom, accelerated by preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022, generated enormous volumes of C&D waste. Under Qatar's National Vision 2030, QPMC was mandated to find technologies capable of converting C&D debris into recycled materials with genuine infrastructure value.
The scale was formidable: vast stockpiles of demolition rubble at a remote desert site with no mains power and no piped water supply. The material had to meet a specification of less than 3% fines at 63 microns, with consistent grading and low contamination. A further complication was high alkalinity: legacy concrete rubble releases significant alkalinity during wet processing, driving pH sharply upward in recirculated water.
Green & Grey Trading and Contracting WLL, contracted by QPMC to establish the pilot project, selected CFlo to design and engineer the system. Phase 1 deployed a Combo X120 modular wet processing platform handling up to 120 tonnes per hour of mixed C&D material, separating crushed demolition rubble into clean recycled aggregates and manufactured sand. Built around patented technology, the plant operates at 95% water recovery and runs entirely on generators, critical given the absence of grid power and piped water at Rawdat Rashed.
Following the pilot's success, Phase 2 added a custom-designed 190 tph Reurban advanced wet processing system, taking combined capacity to 310 tonnes per hour. CFlo's integrated pH conditioner stabilises the recirculated water continuously, protecting the water circuit from scaling and degradation.
Laboratory testing by International Technical Laboratory W.L.L. to BS EN 933-1:2012 standards confirmed well-graded, consistent product across the 0-10mm and 0-28mm streams, clay lumps and friable particles at just 0.1-0.2%, and fines passing 63 microns below the 3% QPMC specification, earning formal QPMC approval. Phase 1 has been in operation since 2025, with Phase 2 under commissioning.
The expansion from 120 tph to 310 tph demonstrates the scalability of CFlo's modular platform: operators can start with a pilot, prove the economics, and scale to full commercial throughput without replacing core infrastructure. In March 2026, CFlo joined the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) as a Net Zero Value Chain Partner alongside ABB, Schneider Electric and Saint-Gobain, and the Rawdat Rashed installation is a direct contribution to the GCCA's 2050 Net Zero Roadmap.
