Combo Alpha-i turns muddy pit sand into three saleable products for PT. Rekadaya Sarana Mukti
PT. Rekadaya Sarana Mukti (RSM) in West Java commissioned CFlo's Combo Alpha-i at its Bunihayu site in August 2018 to turn heavily clay-laced pit sand into ASTM C33 and SNI-compliant construction sand. The plant has since processed more than 1.5 million metric tonnes across 15,000+ operating hours, sells all three output streams, and lifted product value by up to 2.5x.
The pit sand readily available around Subang was heavily laced with clay and silt, with up to 25% of material below 75 microns, poor gradation and sticky clay-bound fines, making it unsellable in raw form. Inadequate washing infrastructure, outdated local machinery and an absence of sustainable practices across the Indonesian sand washing sector compounded the problem. No existing solution could produce ASTM C33 or SNI-compliant construction sand from such challenging feed, so RSM's leadership, including Mr Zainur Akbari and Mr Ridwan Suria, sought global technology leaders to bridge the gap.
After site visits and product evaluations in India and Sri Lanka, and lab testing of their material, RSM commissioned the Combo Alpha-i, a compact, high-efficiency sand washing system built for muddy, lumpy pit sand. Its Turbo Dual Washing Technology uses two-stage washing and high-pressure scrubbing to liberate the feed from contaminants and clay coatings, handling 100-120 tonnes per hour with minimal downtime.
The integrated water recycling system recovers up to 95% of process water, cutting fresh water demand to just 16-19 cubic metres per hour, while the modular design avoided large settling ponds and sludge disposal zones. PLC-based automation enables uninterrupted performance with minimal operator intervention. The plant continuously produces three commercially valuable outputs: ASTM-grade washed sand (0-5mm), washed aggregates (+5mm) and sludge (<75 microns), the last now supplied to the ceramic industry. The washed sand sells at Rp 161,000 per cubic metre, oversize aggregates at Rp 32,750 and clayey soil at Rp 20,000, with clients across West Java including Bandung, Karawang and Jakarta.
The zero-waste approach transformed RSM's business economics and positioned the company as a benchmark supplier of construction aggregates in the region, with consistent ASTM C33/SNI-compliant output.
