CFlo sand washing plants help YTL Cement convert crusher dust into high quality M-Sand
YTL Cement, Malaysia's foremost homegrown cement company with a 70-year history and operations across Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, was left with unsold, unwashed 0-5mm crusher dust that produced inferior-quality concrete. Two CFlo Combo X70 plants at its Batu Tiga Quarry near Kuala Lumpur now convert that dust into 70 TPH of graded M-Sand each, with 95% water recycling and zero liquid discharge; the second plant was commissioned less than 12 months after the first.
YTL Cement operates its own quarry in Kuala Lumpur with a dedicated crusher, but the unwashed 0-5mm dust it produced remained unsold and unused. YTL fed this material into its own batching plants for concrete manufacturing, yet the sand did not meet the required segregation standards, resulting in inferior-quality concrete. Crushing hard rock also generates significant ultra-fines, which reduce the commercial value of the material and pose technical challenges for concrete production. YTL needed an ecologically sound, quality-controlled M-Sand supply from its crusher dust.
In 2016, YTL approached CFlo. After site scouting and understanding their needs, CFlo recommended the Combo X70 for the Batu Tiga Quarry. The plant operates for more than 16 hours a day at a rated power capacity of 110 kW, producing 70 TPH of construction-grade M-Sand for ready-mix concrete industries. It processes fine particles with an accurate cut point of 75 microns, enabling zero liquid discharge, 95% water recycling and minimal maintenance, and its wet processing consistently grades the sand free from adulteration and impurities. The improved sand quality also enhanced project efficiency by reducing cement consumption.
With escalating demand and the first plant consistently meeting expectations, YTL ordered a second Combo X70, commissioned within less than 12 months of the first plant's installation.
"We are delighted with CFlo's Combo X70 sand-washing plants! Their outstanding efficiency and reliability have greatly contributed to our quarrying success. The Combo technology has helped us to enhance the quality of M-Sand by controlling the level of silt and delivering the right gradation. As we continue to expand, we eagerly anticipate more achievements with CFlo as our trusted partner."
